Louisiana

A weekend getaway to Louisiana.....

My favorite horse- Bella

I could not get away from the horses. They were so sweet and fun to pet and feed.

Feeding the catfish in the pond.

More pictures of their land....

I am SO not a country girl, but there is something soooo peaceful and relaxing about having lots of land with horses, beautiful ponds and gazebos. Their home was amazing.

Someone dared us to get into the pond with the catfish. I didn't know Christian was filming :)

My claim to fame

Pay close attention to the person getting in the car at the tail end of the commercial {you have to make the video screen bigger}....

Yes, that's me. It's funny because it took about 30 takes. haha! Make a long story short, I know the guy who directed the commercial and he asked me if I wanted to come watch it being filmed. So while I was there, he asked me if I would be an "extra" :)

Chicago- Part 3

Christian and I were really wanting to see The Second City in Chicago, and finally got a chance to this trip. It is Chicago's famous improv comedy club, and lots and lots of SNL's cast are alumnae of The Second City.

All I can say is, WOW! Now I know why SNL recruits The Second City cast-- they were absolutely hilarious.

My Mom flew into Chicago 7 days after me. She is an absolute blast to travel with... she is non-stop from the crack of dawn until the sun goes down. Here is a some pics from my Mom's time in Chicago....

We walked along the lake from Lincoln Park to Navy Pier

Garrett's popcorn. The BEST popcorn ever.

Crab @ Shaw's Seafood.

We went up 103 stories at the Willis Tower to the glass bottom floors....

Then we visited the Bean. I could stay here all day... it is so entertaining.

Chicago- Part 2

We had every intention of doing this on the trip.....
but no joke, about 100 elementary aged kids walked right in front of us as we were about to get in line to purchase tickets. Don't get me wrong, I love kids, but there was no way I was going to go ice skate with 100 of them.

Anyway, being the food lovers we are, we wanted to try out a restaurant that was featured on Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives.

We were soooo disappointed! Definitely makes me wonder how restaurants are picked to be featured on the show. Does Guy really find them or do restaurants write in and nominate themselves? I think the latter.

We also decided to re-do a table during my visit in Chicago. Christian was given this old table from his friend and we decided to stain it. Since the table was free, we had nothing to loose if it turned out horrible! I totally forgot to take a before picture, so all I have is the picture Christian took on his phone when he first received the table.

After the 1st unsuccessful strip. We had to then strip it 4 more times.

Christian sanding it down.

I left midway through the project so it has now become Christian's project :) I will keep you updated.

Chicago- Part 1

Wow, I am so behind on this blog! I visited Christian in Chicago for Spring Break and we had a great time touring the city. We both like to eat, so the first day we took a walking food tour. We had a guide and everything. She took us to a few of the well known Chicago restaurants. It was a 3.5 hour long tour with a total of 6 food stops.... so we were STUFFED at the end of the tour.

First stop- Pizano's pizza for a slice of deep dish cheese pizza.

Our tour guide. She was awesome.

At the Drake hotel. Part of the tour, but no food.

Chicago style hot dog from Downtown Dogs. Chicagoans don't like ketchup on their hot dogs!

Last stop was the Tip Top Tap at the historic Allerton Hotel for a sweet treat.

I wish I had taken more pics of the food. We also stopped at Sarah's {fudge}, Heaven on Seven {seafood gumbo}, and Billy Goat Tavern {famous for the SNL 'Cheezborger' skit}. I want to try and do a food tour in every city I visit :)
